A rigorous three-step pipeline turns raw hospital filings into reliable, AI-enhanced pricing intelligence.

Ingestion
Each month, Serif Health checks over 4,775 hospitals' standard charge MRF filings for updates. Changes may stem from updated CMS regulatory guidance, new contracts, standard charge updates, or scheduled refreshes. When new data surfaces, Serif Health updates our inventory accordingly. Over the course of a year, nearly all files update to the latest information.

Quality Assurance
Once ingested, Serif Health normalizes the data and ensures files comply with Hospital Price Transparency Act requirements using a series of completeness and accuracy tests. These include comparisons against payer postings and other data sources such as CMS, claims, and contract data as necessary.

Enrichment
After cleaning the data, we enhance several fields to unlock usability of the filings. This includes using advanced ML models to standardize free-text columns like payer names and plan names, and AI-driven pattern recognition to extract key contract terms — stop-loss, carve-outs, outlier payments, multiple procedure discounts — into structured columns.
