Step One
Ingestion
Each month, Serif Health brings in over 4,775 hospitals' filings to see if any updates occurred to their disclosures. These changes may be due to updated regulatory guidance from CMS, new contracts or standard charge information, or scheduled refreshes. If new data surfaced, Serif Health updates our inventory accordingly. Over the course of a year, nearly all files update to the latest information.

Quality Assurance
Once ingested, Serif Health normalizes the data and ensure files comply with Hospital Transparency Act requirements using a series of tests across completeness and accuracy. These include comparison against payer's postings and other data sources (e.g., CMS, claims, contracts) as necessary.

Enrichment
After cleaning the data, we enhance several fields to unlock usability of the filings. These include using advanced machine learning models to standardize free-text columns like payer-names, plan-names across our data assets & library for common use and extraction of key contract terms (e.g., stop-loss, carve-outs, outlier payments, multiple procedure discounts, etc.) into structured columns via AI-driven pattern recognition.
